Emma's Regency Lounge Diary - The Making Of

So there we were again - renovation, DIY, interior design (of sorts)!

Jan 2008 - the work starts. Faced with a half completed room, walls half boarded, floor carpeted and had some electrics installed. The task should be easy you'd think - no, not at all! The room has been left to become damp by it's previous occupier and what a state it is in!

It was a hard decision to make - is this room worth it, worth the hassle and all the problems faced to get it to a decent condition? Yes, it's just going to take some fixing, some patience (lots of it), a pot of money and vision.

This particular room was much harder than my first studio, simply due to the problems I had with it; delays due to the Mill maintenance, I was working flat out while trying to renovate and so it took much longer than the previous studio.

Below are photos I shot along the way - how it was before I took it on, the process, the helpers, tools, finishes and finally the finished lounge as it was in November 2008!

The Styling Room & New Prop Stop/Wardrobe Area!

I wanted this room to be fresh, a little girly and in keeping with my website colours, therefore pink, chrome and black was the perfect choice and it turned out better than I could have ever hoped for! It's a perfect mix of contemporary and vintage which really does go hand in hand. It's my favourite room out of the entire studio, completely me all over and clients always comment on the finish!

The prop stop and wardrobe area was created due to the sheer amount of props I have and being a lingerie collector, I needed far more space than a set of wardrobes. In my 2nd studio (Copley Mill Studio, currently in renovation process, May 2009) I have planned for a very large walk in dressing room because even now I still don't have enough room. It's going to be good!

The Finished Regency Lounge, November 2008

I am still stunned when I look back at the photos of the original room. It's hard to believe we transformed a damp, depressing mess into a beautiful and peaceful room which I now feel so at home in.

The help I've received from my wonderful family, partner and friends has been completely unbelievable, I really couldn't ask for a better bunch! I will always be so grateful to them and hopefully one day I can repay them in some way for their kindness and continued support!

Below are a few images of the Lounge and the finishing touches!
