Emma's Photographic JourneyEmma graduated from Tameside College in the summer of 2003 with various A-Levels, advanced GNVQ's and a HND. She had gained qualifications in a variety of subjects including fashion, graphics, 3D, photography, life drawing & painting, business studies, film studies and then decided to focus her studies mainly on Photography. Upon leaving college she took the plunge into the big wide world and became self employed - something she has never looked back on. Rather than work in a makeover studio etc and sweep up/make tea for a few years, she wanted to advance her photography "hands on" style and so... Miss Photography® was born! Her very first film camera & lenses were a gift from her parents and must have cost a fair bit back then! After 5 years of solid use, it was time to upgrade to a digital camera, again a birthday gift from parents!! If it weren't for the bank of mum and dad offering multiple interest free loans, Emma wouldn't have been able to undertake photography, simply because of the costs involved. She is eternally grateful to them for the opportunities they have given her and is determined to put them to the best use. While at college, Emma had the use of a studio but having left, her options were either expensive studio hire or location, she decided on location. For the next 3 years she undertook model portfolios, promotional portraits, music photography and head shots at a variety of locations including The Lowry, Chatsworth House, Thornton Manor and the hidden corners of Manchester! 2006 saw the conversion of her garage into a home studio - which she out grew in about 6 months, Emma required more space to fulfil her dream - undertaking boudoir and vintage glamour photography!! In February 2007 after much deliberation, she finally decided to upgrade to a bigger studio. All photography work had to stop so she and her army of 5 helpers could undertake the huge task of making the newly acquired space fit for use. It needed everything doing to it - it was literally a shell! Rather than kit it out her newly acquired space like a typical studio, she decided to make it truly vintage and unique, fully suiting it's purpose - a whole room offering boudoir furniture, huge mirrors, chandeliers, candles, cushions, chaise longues, feathers and antiques etc! Emma didn't want white walls, ikea furniture, a modern room with sets in the corner, she wanted to make it so everything could be used and no matter where in her studio you went or looked, you still felt as though you had travelled back in time! The "Shell" was transformed into a luxury parlour, a luxury vintage parlour at that and on 18th March 2007 the studio opened and Miss Boudoir® was born! By the end of Emma's first boudoir photography shoot, she had finally realised her purpose in life - to help as many unconfident women as possible using her photography and deliver a different approach to the standard "boudoir Photography". A year further down the line, she was happy to be expanding yet again and able to offer her unique service to even more women. The business has grown rapidly since the opening of her fist studio and she doubled her photographic space in 2008 creating the Regency Lounge and is currently (2009-2010) renovating a 2nd boudoir studio is Stalybridge, Cheshire Since undertaking the boudoir photography, Emma has actually learned a great deal about herself and her own worries from her clients and she is very grateful to them for this.
